The idea to have a Minor Seminary was first mooted by the then Archbishop of Goa, D. Teotonio Vieira de Castro in 1934. It came as a response to the directives of the Church and also to the need that was occasioned by the marked increase in the number of external students in the Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol to around 660 in 1933.
Based on the said technical expertise and grants released, around two hectares of mango orchard plantations with 120 mango grafts have been undertaken and developed along with 500 cashew grafts on the slopes as contemplated in the proposal. In addition, channels on the hillock have been developed to arrest the rain water and the water is harnessed in an artificial tank created under the project.
